Kitchen Remodel

About a year ago we decided to do a much needed update to our kitchen. Our home was built in 1972 and as I am constantly reminded 'they don't make things like they use to'. Therefor our original "harvest gold" sink, dishwasher, double ovens etc. still worked perfectly. However, they were way out of style. So enjoy the transformation....

This is looking into the kitchen from the den.  We already began taking overhead cabinets down, when I remembered to take some before pics.
Gotta love the harvest gold!

This is what our cabinets used to look like up close. They were custom cabinets and the budget wouldn't allow new custom, so.....our contracter showed us how he could update our same cabinets......

He simply cut out the middle, added a piece of wood to the back, then added trim in the middle. These are pictures before they painted them.

This is the after. I just love it now. I actually enjoy my kitchen.

My conractor suggested these lights. They come from Lowe's and they have tons of different shades to interchange!
So glad Todd and I decided to splurge and buy one of the nicest faucets and have an under the counter mounted sinks.
I bought this cute lame that's an old scale with a colander as a lamp shade from one of my shopping trips to Canton, TX.

This is my pantry. I love it, and even though it's huge It's packed to the max. Everytime I reorganize it gets messy again! At least most people don't see it too often!

This is a door in my pantry that goes to the garage. I don't open it very often because my car is parked in front of it. It was supposed to be so you can back up and unload. But, I rarely back in, I could just see myself backing into the pantry. haha! So for now, it's sort of a message center.

one wall is an entire peg board so I hang pots from the hooks. Oh and back packs too!

And sometimes I hang my purse just to get it out othe way.

Master Bedroom

There are some things I hate about living in a home 30+ years old. But one thing I love is the size of the bedrooms. All the bedrooms in my house could seriously be a master bedroom acording to their dimensions.

Just look at the size of this room. This is what you see when you first walk in.

This fireplace is one of the unique features in our masterbedroom.  I just love it. Although, we don't get to use it too much living here in Friendswood, TX!!

Another view coming out of the bathroom.  Notice we have no windows! All we have is the sliding glass door to the patio. I would love for more light to have more light, but it is nice for taking naps during the day.

 No bedroom light either?

Anyone know what this is?  It turns on the ceiling fan.  My MIL asked if you put quarters in it. I got so tickled!

The built in desk is nice, but from the 70s they didn't think about the design with computers in mind. haha!~

I got my coverlett from Marshalls, but these pillows came from a boutique and I splurged. So, glad I did. I've used them on my couch and now on my bed.

Living Room

Kellys Korner hs the show us your life blog roll. It's so much fun to link up with the topic and participate. Today is show us your living room.  While I loke so many other people's living room. I'm going to share mine with you.  I haven't changed it much since I've lived here. So, it's really not my style, but one of these days, I'm going to tackle it....so here it is.....

I have a homemade green step that I keep out. I use it to workout with, and underneath are all of my handweights. I have to keep it visible, so I don't "forget" to workout! haha
I really like these curtains. They are hung almost all the way to the ceiling giving the feel of a raised ceiling.

Homework

<>
Everyday when we get home from school the kids are immediately starving to death. Walker is on a pudding kick. But....he likes to die it blue. It looks so gross. But, he eats it and it's sugar free.

While Wade is busydoing his homework, Walker likes to read to himself. It's so cute. He asks Wade to read to him.

Broncos Orange takes down Lake Jackson!!!

What an awesome game Wade had yesterday.  His Broncos football team beat Lake Jackson 25-0.

Wade's 60 yard touchdown. I was so excited watching, I forgot to take a picture when he was in the end zone!

The kids really came together and had an awesome game, not even letting Lake Jackson score. Way to go boys!

I can't wait for some Sunday football. Todd and I play fantasy football. This is my first year of playing. I have no idea what I'm doing, but it definitely makes the games much more interesting.  I am in 2 leagues. One with Todd and his friends. The other is an all girl Chick League.  It's going to be so much fun! My team name is "Victorious Secret"! This was a logo I found online, so it's really fuzzy, sorry!

It's Football Time

Last week Wade had his firs tackle football game. He plays for the Friendswood Broncos. They had a tough game and lost. The score was 31 - 13, I think?

Todd is an assistant coach on the team.

Walker can't wait til he's old enough to play flag football.
